What is vertical gardening ?

Vertical garden is basically planting plants vertically suspended panels using hydroponics / soil. This can be mounted on walls or can be placed like stand at free place.
Advantages of vertical gardening are it requires less space and can lead to large yield also it looks beautiful.

Who invented vertical garden?

PROFESSOR STANLEY HART WHITE, THE “INVENTOR” OF THE VERTICAL GARDEN. The first hint of a vertical garden as we know it was patented in 1938 by Stanley Hart White.

Plants that can be grown in a vertical garden:-
you can grow vegetables like cucumber , beans , peas and also melons but be sure to keep melons at the bottom pot. Many of us can also grow herbs like mint , thyme , basil , cumin etc which you can place in your kitchen area. Now a days vertical gardens are built on buildings and also on highways to balance CO2 which emerges from vehicles.

Vertical garden cost –
Cost of the garden depends on the project . you can have a minimum plants with pots for 1000 Rs. and can also extend. Once installed there is only cost of maintenance.

How often should you water a vertical garden?
You’ll want to water your plants when the soil begins to dry out. If you let it dry out completely, your plants may be wilted and stressed. So every day or two check on your plants to make sure the soil is moist but not constantly soaked.

How do you turn a plastic bottle into a vertical garden?
Use two liter soda bottles cut them in half and use the neck side. Turn them upside down. Adhere the bottles to a wooden frame and arrange them in such a way so that the open neck of the bottle will drain out the water into the bottle below it. Advantages of vertical garden –
1. you don’t to bend to keep your pots clean.
2. Plants are above ground hence there is less chance of pet animal destroying your plants.
3. Plant are in a eye sight range which helps in finding any bugs or diseases under control.
4. It aims at higher productivity in smaller spaces.
5. It uses soil-less methods such as hydroponics, aquaponics and aeroponics. 

Disadvantages-
There are not many disadvantages but I will still mention few.
1. If your using hydroponics, aquaponics and aeroponics technology then cost will be more.
2. Vertical garden will lead to moist walls which can promote rot.
3. Staining and dirtying of floor and walls.
